DR. STANLEY W. D.D.S. June 8, 1934 - July 14, 2016 Resident of Alameda, California Stanley Walter Zdral passed away on July 14, 2016, at Kaiser Hospital San Leandro of cardiac arrest due to septic shock and cellulitis. His loving son Stanley C. Zdral and his adoring Sweetheart Karen Follrath were by his side. He also loved being Honorary Grandpa to Carina Dawn Cole, daughter of Carol Follrath Cole (Rich). Stan's passing is our loss and Heaven's gain. Also mourning his passing but celebrating his life are nephews John D. Zdral (Lisa), John V. Konopka (Laureen), Gary Zdral and Kenny Zdral (Jill), nieces Janet Sulek (Mark), Kathy Socia (Dan) and Heidi Wilinski (Chris), Karen's daughter Janet Follrath, in addition to many other nieces, nephews, and friends throughout the U.S. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Irene, his only daughter Claudia Zdral Roberts, his son-in-law Michael Roberts, his infant son Scott Zdral, and his parents Vincent and Harriet Zdral, brothers Chester and Norbert and sister Alice. Stanley was a dentist in Alameda for 28 years prior to his retirement in 1998, having moved his practice from Michigan. He was born in Hamtramck, MI. He graduated from St. Mary's High School of Orchard Lake, MI and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Detroit. Some of the many organizations Stanley was active in include: All Saints Parish in Hayward (past Parish Council President), Alameda Elks Lodge #1015, Aeolian Yacht Club (past Rear Commodore), Alameda Kiwanis, Alameda Rotary, St. Albert the Great Parish, and the Alameda Dental Society. Stanley loved having his morning coffee with his many friends, swimming, boating, reading, and was an avid Cal Football fan and a converted Raider fan, attending all home games of both organizations. At his request Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6th at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1022 Holly St., Alameda, and will include services under the auspices of Alameda Elks Lodge #1015. A reception will follow at the Elks Club, 2255 Santa Clara Ave., Alameda. Burial at a later date will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield, MI. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alameda Elks Lodge Facility Fund (2255 Santa Clara Ave., Alameda, CA 94501) or the American Heart Assoc. would be greatly appreciated.
