Robert FregolleRobert Fregolle
February 10, 1921 - March 25, 2018

Robert Leo Fregolle passed peaceFregollefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018 in the presence of his children. He was 97 years young.

Bob was born in Hibbing, MN on February 10, 1921 to Leo Fortuna Fregolle and Florence Marie Ayotte Fregolle. He moved to Detroit when he was a young boy and attended Mackenzie High School where he graduated Cum Laude. He took pride in his athletic prowess in both track and baseball and earned a letter in track being capable of running the 100 yard dash in slightly over 10 seconds. He enrolled at the University of Detroit in 1940 but his education was interrupted by WWII. He entered the Army on August 12, 1942 and was honorably discharged on February 18, 1946 as a First Lieutenant. He returned to and graduated from the University of Detroit. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity and enjoyed a long friendship with many of his fraternity brothers, who were also members of the Dosmos, a group of friends who were near and dear to his heart. We are sure that they, among others, met Bob at the pearly gates and are showing him around heaven.

While at U of D, he met Lillian Larsen (Wayne State) through mutual friends and they married on August 21, 1948. Bob worked in marketing first for Ford and then, Chrysler, until he retired at the age of 59. In retirement, he kept himself busy cheering on the University of Michigan, antiquing and refinishing furniture, playing fantasy football, and traveling with Lillian to visit his 3 children and his grandchildren. He belonged to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church and was a proud member of the Senior Men’s Club in Birmingham.

Bob and Lillian lived happily in Beverly Hills, MI, in the same house, for most of their married life, until in 2015, health reasons gave them the opportunity to move to Cincinnati, OH to be near their son, Bob. After retirement, you could find them most nights, on their patio, having a beer (Lillian) and a scotch (Bob), smoking a cigarette or two, and talking. They were devoted to each other for nearly 70 years and spent the last few months sitting on their sofa holding hands.

Bob was a man of strong opinions, simple tastes and intense loyalties. His passing occurred moments after receiving 'last rites' from a Catholic priest, in the presence of his children. He lived a good long life with much to celebrate.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Lillian, his 3 children: Robert Leo Fregolle, Jr (Lori), Patricia Fregolle Ross (Ted), and Douglas Larsen Fregolle. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren: Kimberly Roth (Kevin), Kelly Orr (Dan), Alexandria Ross, Hannah Fregolle (Michael Burdick) and Bobby Fregolle, and 5 great grandchildren, Ayotte, Brecken, Theodore and Elodie Roth and Evelyn Orr.

Bob will be buried at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Tuesday, April 3 at 2 PM. We will have a celebration of his life from 4-6 PM at The Village Club, 190 East Long Lake Rd, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
