Marie Patricia LeeMarie Patricia Lee

Marie Patricia “Pat” MacInnis Lee, 88, beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend, and child of Christ went to meet her Savior, surrounded by family, after a short illness on February 23, 2018.

She was born on October 16, 1929 in Detroit as the first of seven children of Dan and Clare MacInnis. Patricia graduated from Immaculata High School in 1947. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati OH, graduating in 1953, which included nursing training at Mount Carmel Mercy Nursing program in Detroit.

She went on to travel through Europe with her sister Camille after graduation.
Pat’s nursing career included working for the Red Cross and for various hospitals, including locations in Lansing, Michigan, Brooklyn, New York, and Denver, Colorado, where she taught nursing.

Pat married John E. Lee in 1960. They had three children. She retired from nursing when she married. John and Pat lived in Dearborn Heights attending St. Sabina Parish since 1961. Pat was active in raising her children and in parish activities.

She returned to nursing in the 1970s and 1980s working with the elderly at Marycrest Manor and Dearborn Heights Convalescent Center.

Pat was very proud of her Scottish-Irish heritage, including Irish music. She loved to play the piano, ski, read and socialize. Pat was gregarious, fun and loved life.
She was a champion for mental Illness, trying to bring awareness and reduce the stigma.

She was also strong in her Catholic faith and everything it stood for. She applied her faith by teaching catechism to children, being a lector at mass, praying for all, visiting the sick, delivering communion, advocating prayer of the rosary, having Father Solanus Guild Meetings in her home, passing out Father Solanus badges to all (including the family dog), welcoming new people and being there for people when needed. She visited the Blessed Mother Mary apparition site in Medjugorje in the former Yugoslavia in 1990. She was also a staunch Pro-Life Advocate.

If you knew Pat, you knew exactly where she where she stood on pretty much any topic.

Pat leaves behind three children, Robert, Mary and Kathleen, her sister Camille Manion, brothers John and Bill and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Bryant, and her brothers, Jim and Dan.

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, February 27, from 3-9 p.m. at the L.J. Griffin Funeral Home, 7707 Middlebelt Road in Westland. A rosary service will be at 5:30 p.m.

Pat will lie instate on Wednesday, February 28, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 25605 Ann Arbor Trail (West of Telegraph) until the time of her Mass at 10 a.m.

Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Thursday, March 1.

The family requests memorial contributions be given to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen or the Detroit Rescue Mission.
