Most recently of Utah, Gordon was born in Highland Park, Michigan to Mattie (nee McBee) and Benjamin Baker.

Gordon graduated from Berkley High School and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a police officer for the City of Birmingham for 32 years.

Summers for Gordy were filled with boating on Six Pac and Six Pac II and playing on many different men's softball leagues. His winters were filled with snowmobiling and hunting at his cabin in St. Helen. Gordon loved sports of all kinds but his favorites were hockey, football and baseball. He played on a senior baseball league sponsored by Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors until he was 70 years old.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Gordon was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Gordon is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Veronica and son, Dave (Lisa) Baker. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, Devon Syjud (Baker), Mathew Baker, Michael Charles, Jessa Matznick (Baker), Jedmyn Baker, Benjamin Baker Jordan Baker, Karsyn Baker, Jacob Baker, Jenna Baker, Andrew Schultz, Tricia Schultz, Brennan Cooney, Alanna Cooney, and Rylan Cooney, his 9 great-grandchildren, Mason Syjud, Wyatt Syjud, Ashton Matznick, Weston Syjud, Luca Matznick, Miles Syjud, Emmett Matznick, Tristan Charles, and Wyatt Baker, and Veronica’s children, Jerry (Laura Storjohann) Cooney, Kathy (Ray) Schultz, and Tom (Deborah) Cooney. Gordon is preceded in death by his sons, Michael (Jessie) Baker and Steve (Robin) Baker, and his first wife, Jeanette.

A Memorial Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 1368 N. Crooks Road, Saturday, September 30th at 11am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield. Friends may visit Friday, September 29th, 6-8pm.
