Fred Eugene Goeldi, Sr.
June 02, 1932 - April 11, 2018

Fred Eugene Goeldi, Sr., age 85 of Warren, died Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital, Macomb Center in Warren. He was born June 2, 1932 in Detroit, son of the late Fred and the late Amelia(nee:Schnedier) Goeldi. Just barely out of high school, Fred was a young 19 years of age when he felt the urge to answer the call of patriotism as he enlisted in our great armed forces at the onset of the Korean War. Electing the United States Air Force as his branch of choice, Fred served from October 1951 to October 1955 and was ultimately promoted to the rank of Airman First Class (A1C). So it is, with thanks and praise from a grateful nation, that we pay homage to Fred for his service to our country and his willingness to stand in harm's way for the cause of freedom,…for both America and our allies abroad. For the bravery exuded and the sacrifices made, we honor Fred's service and extend our posthumous gratitude for his answering the call with pride.

Following his military service, Fred eventually gained employment within the automotive industry in the Metal Model Designing Department. Starting from the ground up, Fred would ultimately climb that ladder of success and rise to the level of Supervision before finally accepting his well-deserved retirement. With many years of loyal and dedicated service under his belt, Fred was quite proud of his accomplishments and was an integral part of the company experiencing the growth and heights it reached.

As for time away from the job, Fred was known for his love of travel and often sought to build upon his portfolio of places visited and destinations fulfilled. Whatever the mode of travel, he loved it all and spent a lifetime enjoying his little escapes and getaways wherever they took him. Another of his favorite pastimes was found in the sport of fishing. There's a whole other world of peacefulness and relaxation to be enjoyed while fishing, and Fred certainly knew that to be true. A favorite fishing hole…the right bait…a good cast of the fishing line, and the rest just came naturally. Whether on shore or in a boat, Fred loved to fish and ate up all that serenity,…right up until the bobber sank below the surface of the water, then it was time to go to work. Forever in search of the "Big One,"…Fred always had some fishing tales to share.

But of all that brought Fred happiness and pleasure, the joy of sharing life with his family and friends truly reigned supreme. Family meant the world to Fred, and he was always seeking to make those lasting memories that would naturally live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know this great man. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Fred leaves his mark on the countless souls he touched along the way,…especially his precious family. He will be missed immensely and loved eternally.

Fred was the beloved husband of Lillian, and dear father of Michelle (Ken) Javadian, Fred Jr. (Sue) Goeldi, and John (Kathy) Goeldi. Loving grandfather of Anthony, Aaron, Nicholas, Hanna, and Matt.

Visitation for Fred will be held Sunday, April 15th from 3-9 pm, with a 7 pm Rosary Service, at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Rd. at Common (12 ½ Mile Rd.) in Warren.
