Charlie was born to Eugene and Frances Simpson in Sturbridge, MA. Charlie served honorably in the US Army during World War II. Following his military service, Charlie moved to Detroit, MI to help start Jardon Laboratories. They provided prosthetic eyes, and Charlie was the company's Ocularist. He enjoyed a long successful career with Jardon Laboratories until his retirement.

Charlie liked to stay active outside of work. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was a great bowler, played as much golf as he could, and also played baseball for many years.

Charlie was preceded in death eight weeks ago by his beloved wife, Rita, after 76 years of marriage. Dear father of Charles, Jr. (Betty), Neil (Lynne) and Carol Babcock (Steve). Papa and Pepe of Steve, Matt, Jeff, Scott, Paul, Kerrie, Becky, Brian and Mike, and also 18 great-grandchildren. Eldest of 10 siblings, survived by Arnold (Germaine), Raymond (Linda), Gordon (Carol) and sister-in-law Shirley.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 2-8 p.m. with Scripture Service at 7 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd. (between Maple and Big Beaver), 248-362-2500.

The Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln Rd., Bloomfield Hills. Visitation at church begins at 10 a.m.
